Beatle the great Band

During the post-war years Liverpool become more famous world over than it ever was at the height of its colonial trade. Each year many thousands of tourists visit the city for just one reason - to see the birthplace of the Beatles.

Before and since, the music world has never seen anything like the 1960's phenomenon created by these four lads. John, Paul, George and Ringo are the world's biggest selling group, and no other band has inspired such devotion or become a household name in so many parts of the world.

Listening, even thirty years on, to the freshness, flair and variety of the Beatles music it is not hard to understand why the are still regarded as the greatest band ever and cultural icons.

Lennon and McCartney met at a Village Fete at St Peters Church in Woolton. The graveyard of which by a strange coincidence features the grave of one 'Eleanor Rigby' (1895-1939).
